The Domesday Book of 1086 records it as Rislepe under Arnulf de Hesdin, assessed at 30 hides and worth £20 where it had been £30 before 1066. The name is thought to refer to a leaping place among rushes on the River Pinn. In 1087 Arnulf gave the manor to Bec Abbey. The parish included Eastcote, which was recorded as Ascot. St Martin's church in Ruislip dates from the mid-13th century and is Grade II listed. The Hawtrey family settled in Eastcote around 1525 and Haydon Hall was built there in 1630. The Metropolitan Railway arrived in 1904 and the Ruislip-Northwood Urban District followed. During the Second World War Eastcote hosted a codebreaking outstation.
