The UK's first municipal airfield operated there from April 1929 until a last recorded flight on 19 June 1930. In 1931 the townships of Northenden, Baguley and Northen Etchells joined Manchester. Housebuilding resumed in the late 1940s. Fires struck Newall Green Farm in 2014 and Wythenshawe Hall in 2016. Of 30 listed buildings nearby, Baguley Hall is Grade I, while Wythenshawe Hall, the bus depot, Rose Hill and the churches of St Wilfrid and St Michael and All Angels are Grade II*.
