A short history of Little Chalfont
Little Chalfont grew up after the Metropolitan Railway arrived. In 1889 a station named Chalfont Road opened on a spot where the boundaries of Amersham, Chenies and Chalfont St Giles converged. The surrounding land then held scattered farms and cottages and had no name of its own. Housing followed the line and a community formed beside the station, which became Chalfont & Latimer in 1915. The name Little Chalfont first appears in Chalfont St Giles Parish Council records of 15 January 1925, when residents asked that the houses near the station be called that rather than "Chalfont Road Village". The village was divided between Amersham and Chalfont St Giles until it gained parish status of its own in 2007. Twelve listed buildings stand within 0.6 miles of the centre; Beel House is Grade II* and the other eleven are Grade II. Latimer Park is a registered park and garden.
