Going the extra mile
For some, going the extra mile for charity is something they take quite literally. One such person is Cheryl Rivals, easyProperty licensee covering Stevenage in Hertfordshire. She will be taking on the Virgin Money London Marathon on Sunday 28 April to raise money and awareness for her chosen charity – Sense.
The London Marathon has become a renowned global event with the top runners from around the world coming to London in the hopes of taking home the prestigious first place gold medal. With over 40,000 participants and multitudes of spectators from around the globe, the event has also become a platform for charitable fundraising.
“The London Marathon will be my first marathon, which in itself will be an achievement. However, I wanted it to be more than just running a race,” said Rivals. “Sense support people with complex disabilities and they help people who are deafblind to communicate and experience the world around them. I have a friend who is deaf, and I wanted to support a great cause which means something to me personally. My target is to raise £1,700, which will go a long way in supporting a charity that relies heavily on donations to do the work it does.”
During the marathon, Cheryl will be wearing a top with the easyProperty logo on it. The full-service estate agency, have pledged their support to the cause and have agreed to match the amount of money that she raises. “I greatly appreciate easyProperty for supporting me and everyone else who has donated and helped me with fundraising and training for the event,” said Rivals.
Russell Humphrey, Managing Director at easyProperty, said: “We think that it is amazing that Cheryl is taking on the London Marathon and in doing so raising money for a cause she believes in. We wish her the very best and want to show our support by helping her to reach her fundraising objectives.”
